Jay Romano and Conduct Unbecoming to the Judiciary in New Jersey.

Michael Gartland, Dave Sheingold, & Richard Cowen, "$100,000 Paydays Largely Overlooked: Salaries Fuel Growth in Counties' Tax Bite," in The Record, May 17, 2010, at p. A1. (I wonder how much Jay Romano makes from North Bergen and/or other municipalities in New Jersey?)

Pictured above is Senator Robert "Bob" Menendez and a friend described, I believe and allegedly, only as "pinkie rings." (The photo has been blocked.) I can neither confirm nor deny that this gentleman with the pink pocket handkerchief is, in fact, called "pinkie rings." Anyone wishing to supply this person's name is welcome to do so. I will amend this caption accordingly. La Bolita Siempre Paga. (This is Union City, New Jersey's unofficial slogan.)

Only one "error" inserted overnight. January 4, 2008 at 9:27 A.M. How did your primary candidates do, boys? Further insertions of "errors" are always expected.

I was working at my MSN group this morning (2008) when obstacles to posting and efforts to prevent my corrections of inserted "errors" made it impossible for me to proceed with my work. I will attempt to write at this blog, then I will spend the rest of the day struggling to return to my group to finish revisions at that site. The memoir damaged by hackers at my computer will be written by hand, then typed either on to this computer or elsewhere. I will do my best to publish that memoir -- at my own expense, if necessary.

My security updating capacity has been damaged. Ironically, this censorship effort over many years is culminating as America's presidential election cycle begins again. No doubt many persons will fail to see a contradiction between these realities. Spacing may be affected in this essay. Other attacks on this blog are likely.

I wonder whether Senator Bob can identify the source of the above-listed site?

North Bergen, New Jersey takes pride in its history of multiple associations with political corruption and organized crime. A former mayor was famous for having made some tapes disappear from the F.B.I. vaults during one of the numerous corruption trials of alleged mobsters from the territory. Everything, including zoning variances and permits, was said to be for sale.

One of the locations used, extensively, by Francis Ford Coppola in "The Godfather" may still be found in that aromatic town, which is happily located at the heart of nefarious Hudson County ("forget about it!" is the county slogan).

Right next door is Union City, where Senator Robert "Bob" Menendez ruled for years before starting his own family, as it were, in Washington, D.C. -- natives describe Union City as a little slice of "Lucky" Luciano's Havana in New Jersey. It certainly can be. La Bolita, anyone? Translation: the Cuban-mob's numbers game is called "La Bolita" and it is the unofficial slogan of Union City, N.J. -- "Cuban numbers games always pay cash!" Right, Bob? ("Does Senator Menendez Have Mafia Friends?")

Among the reputed lunatics and colorful characters wielding power as so-called Municipal Court Judges in New Jersey, none is more "colorful" or less competent than North Bergen's diminutive judicial ace and (for some mysterious reason) "journalist" at The New York Times, "Jay" Romano. Conflict of interest? Romano is 5 feet and 6 inches of legal acumen.

Mr. Romano is the heir to many locally prominent "guys." Romano was often described by North Hudson Bar Association members as a "drunken fool." I will be happy to name lawyers who expressed opinions concerning Mr. Romano. However, to be fair, I never detected the alleged three martini lunches, only the "fool" was obvious -- to me.

Romano's uncle was said to be "prominent" in business and to have "gotten him" the judgeship. Everybody was intimidated by these guys for some reason. I wonder why?

At the time of his appointment, Romano had not tried many (or any) Superior Court cases and, literally, did not know how to ask a question of a witness. Evidently, the concept of a conflict of interest had also not occurred to him. Romano once alluded, enigmatically, to old real estate files that kept him up at night. Anything is possible in Hudson County.

During an interview of then notorious defendant, KELLY ANN MICHAELS (convicted of child abuse involving numerous children in a day care center), "Judge" Romano "reports" (irony intended) that he was "smitten." After release based on a "technicality," as prosecutors say, Ms. Michaels joined New Jersey's judicial family by marrying Judge Romano, presumably gaining access to confidential computer records and Internet use through her husband. ("New Jersey is the Home of Child Molesters.")

This leads me to wonder about the effectiveness of recent New Jersey legislation aimed at curbing computer access for convicted child molesters in the most child-porn-saturated jurisdiction in the nation which is largely controlled by organized crime "families." (See "New Jersey Judges Protect Child Molesters in Bayonne, New Jersey" and "We don't know from nothing.")

The Kelly Michaels Case will be the subject of a future essay. Romano did not like me much. A decision was made by "somebody" to target me for harassment, I believe, based on my decision to actually defend people at the local "low level" -- in every sense! -- criminal court in town, opposing daily police violations of civil liberties.

North Bergen cops decided to harass people, stopping the same individuals many times for any reason or no reason. In one case the individual, literally, had a personal conflict with a police officer who decided to use the badge as a license for tormenting that defendant. I wonder whether something similar contributed to my predicament? ("An Unpleasant Encounter With New Jersey's State Police" and "Mafia Influence in New Jersey Law and Politics.")

That reminds me of Trenton's OAE. Extortion under color of law with the fines collected probably split up among locals goons. (I wonder whether Senator Bob got some of that loot?)

I was routinely sanctioned for arriving late in North Bergen Municipal Court, after officials had received letters from my office, indicating a conflict in my schedule existed. I was complying with court rules and statutes by appearing at the Superior Court level, prior to arriving at their incomparable presences, unless the law allowed otherwise.

It always cost me money, regardless of the law, to show up in that place. I also did not genuflect or buy tickets for "dinners" for local politicians. "Who do you know?" was the first question asked in North Bergen, not what laws are you relying on. The message was: "We do what we want. We don't care about the law."

This is true. Zoning variances and other matters were for sale in town. Perhaps this explains the disregard for the First Amendment in CONTINUING AND PUBLIC efforts to destroy these writings, every day, and to harass me. I am just getting started, boys. I have decided to devote a future essay to Kelly Michaels and the scourge of child exploitation thanks to the New Jersey mob. ("More Child Molestation and Porn in New Jersey.")

The bias in North Bergen and judicial incompetence in Hudson County made it obvious that evidence and law were irrelevant to outcomes. Also, that I would need to remove any cases involving some disfavored defendants from that town if I were to have any chance of actually being heard on the merits.

African-Americans were rare in the North Bergen police department. I never saw one African-American exonerated in the local town court. If you were black, then you were guilty. Evidence of guilt was incidental. Maybe it still works that way. What do you think? (See "America's Holocaust," "Driving While Black (DWB) in New Jersey" and "How to Execute the Innocent in New Jersey.")

Ethics? Do you speak to me of "ethics," Mr. Rabner? How's Prisco doing, Stuart? ("Stuart Rabner and Conduct Unbecoming to the Judiciary in New Jersey" and "Does Senator Menendez Have Mafia Friends?")

It was also clear to me that I would never receive an unbiased hearing or fair consideration of an argument in North Bergen or in most New Jersey "courts." Municipal officials targeting an unruly attorney speak to one another behind the scenes, so that the harassment will be universal.

I appealed Romano's refusal to recuse himself from a case because of bias towards me. Romano's face would turn purple with rage, becoming hideously contorted, when I entered the courtroom -- before I spoke a word -- as he berated and insulted me, accusing me of "lying" in pointing out a conflict of interest in my schedule. I once noted for the record the language used by Romano, the number of persons in the courtroom subject to subpoena to corroborate what he said, then I alluded to the specific matters in other courts where I had appeared and the legal requirement that I give preference to those other matters.

Noting Romano's possible violation of the Canons of Judicial Ethics in New Jersey (which are themselves a joke), I asked "Judge Jay" to repeat what he said on that occasion. Romano suffered a sudden memory lapse. Defense counsel should not be in the business of winning popularity contests. I could not care less about being popular with the likes of Jay Romano -- at that time or (even less) these days.

The Criminal Assignment or Administrative Judge in Hudson County was a guy named "Arthur D'Italia." A man of few words, but a good judge. D'Italia decided to "err on the side of caution" and preserve the forms of legal process if not the substance. D'Italia was one of the few local judges who was not easily intimidated politically. My appeal and request to transfer the matter out of North Bergen was granted. Unfortunately, my case was sent to Union City Municipal Court.

"Geez, said the Cuban-American court staff in Bob Menendez land ... We need this like a hole in the head!"

On that promising note, the matter was listed for trial. Defendant was aquitted on most charges and had to fork over a few dollars so that the locals could "wet their beaks a little." I am told that Romano swore undying vengeance. "Operatic" is the only adjective that does justice to Hudson County -- or, indeed, to New Jersey. As a result, I was targeted for further destruction. The boys in North Bergen, I was told, have a lot of friends at the OAE. I was to be taught a lesson. My opinions would be changed "for my own good." It hasn't worked yet.

Telephone calls received from 425-648-9413 at 10:45 A.M. on January 3, 2008. Obscene phone calls? New viruses, spyware, and other computer attacks have arisen all of a sudden. How curious? More computer attacks and defacements of texts on April 27, 2008.

Amazingly, I am experiencing even more computer harassment on April 27, 2009 at 6:22 P.M.

Who knew people would be upset by little-old me? Romano was (and probably still is), in my opinion, incapable of unbiased decision-making, unintelligent, a poor thinker, a person who should never be a judge anywhere. Judge Romano is a typical New Jersey Municipal Court judge who, I hope, will never be a Superior Court Judge. If Romano has become, or ever is, a Superior Court Judge in New Jersey, then all hope for improvements has been lost in the marshy territory of unidentified corpses called Hudson County, where the "four-way-check" and judicial appointment process was said to be "fixable." ("It'll cost ya, that's all.")

Threats of frame ups or violence will not prevent me from speaking truth to power. As they say at the Jersey shore: "Forget about it!"
