U.S. Government Contractor Accused of Spying.

February 16, 2011 at 11:55 A.M. Spacing between paragraphs was affected in "Metaphor is Mystery." I cannot say how many other writings have been vandalized or plagiarized. I will do my best to make all necessary corrections. Compare Mark Sandler, "U.S. Policy to Address Internet Freedom," in The New York Times, February 15, 2011, at p. A10 with Scott Turow, Paul Aiken & James Shapiro, "Would the Bard Have Survived the Web?," in The New York Times, February 15, 2011, at p. A29. (Not in New Jersey.)

Is sanctioned computer crime, censorship, plagiarism compatible with America's commitment to Internet freedom, Madame Secretary of State? How can you remain passive to the abuse of children or college students seeking diverse opinions on-line? "Re-set?"
February 13, 2011 at 10:15 A.M. "Errors" inserted overnight will now be corrected. Senator Menendez has expressed support for a new "cybersecurity law." Irony. ("Is Senator Bob 'For' Human Rights?")
February 12, 2011 at 9:53 A.M. One letter was removed from a word, then it was restored to the word, even as I was twice prevented from posting the correction at the original location of this essay. I was forced to copy the work and repost it in order to correct inserted "errors." The goal of this process of obstructions and torments is to discourage all writing efforts and inflict permanent emotional or psychological harm. ("I Affirm This Single Moment of Rebellion.")
Writings at these blogs continue to be defaced on a daily basis, no images can be posted by me, plagiarism of my copyright-protected writings continues, computer crimes and other harassments are common. I do not know how many works have been vandalized overnight. I was prevented from posting revisions of this work from my home computer. I will try to write from several public computers later today. ("What is it like to be tortured?")
February 11, 2011 at 3:33 P.M. Unfortunately, spacing between paragraphs was altered, again, since earlier today. I have corrected this inserted "error." ("U.S. Embargo Against Cuba Rejected by the World" and "Manohla Dargis Strikes Again!")
February 11, 2011 at 12:05 P.M. Spacing between paragraphs was altered, again, as part of the repeated torments or induced frustration efforts on the part of protected Cuban-American gangsters based in New Jersey, I believe. One letter was removed from a word. I have corrected these inserted "errors." ("Is Senator Menendez 'For' Human Rights?" and "More Trouble for Menendez -- Tapes!" then "Is Senator Menendez a Suspect in Mafia-Political Murder in New Jersey?")
February 10, 2011 at 3:26 P.M. Spacing was affected, again, since my review of this essay a few hours ago. The usual pattern is to continue these minor defacements of a posted work for several days after it is posted, requiring me to make the identical corrections forty or fifty times, sometimes more often. The technique of psychological torture on display here is discussed in a number of works analyzing U.S. intelligence agency methods for inflicting emotional harm or nerve damage on victims. They have been used on POWs and others throughout the world.
Not only am I a victim of this criminal strategy, but so are the readers of these words and the Constitution of the United States of America. I have always wondered if Vince Foster was a victim of similar pressures at the hands of Right-wing former intelligence types engaged in political wars or digging for dirt to use against the Clintons. ("What is it like to be tortured?" and "Good Will Humping" then "Psychological Torture in the American Legal System.")
February 10, 2011 at 9:42 A.M. Spacing between paragraphs was altered overnight. I have corrected this shocking inserted "error." It is revealing that this essay -- seeking the release of a person held in Cuba -- would be subjected to such criminal violations of copyright, censorship and defacements in violation of my civil rights, with total lack of concern for the welfare of this American individual who may be helped by my efforts. ("How Censorship Works in America" and "More Censorship and Cybercrime.")
Ginger Thompson, "Cuban Trial Of American Reaches End," in The New York Times, March 6, 2011, at p. A13. ("Ginger Thompson" is one of the names used by the Right-wing Cuban-Americans given exclusive title to the Cuba issue. Manohla Dargis?)

"Politics and the Court," (Editorial) in The New York Times, February 5, 2011, at p. A16. (U.S. Supreme Court's politics makes it very difficult for anyone to accept that laws -- as opposed to partisan politics -- determine outcomes in cases.)
Larry Rohter, "The Arts Of Cuba, Set to Wow New York," in The New York Times, February 9, 2011, at p. C1. (Dozens of Cuban artists will be featured in a wide-ranging festival of Cuban arts that will develop over two months in New York, giving these Cuban artists global media exposure.)
"Cuban prosecutors announced Friday that they will seek a 20-year prison term for U.S. government contractor Alan Gross, who was arrested more than a year ago for distributing satellite communication equipment to the island's Jewish community."
I think it is very likely that Mr. Gross was indeed a spy, either for the U.S. or Israel. Not a very good spy, perhaps, but a spy nonetheless. Persons may be confined in jails in this country -- the U.S. -- for 18 months or longer while awaiting trial on criminal charges. There is nothing unusual in a one year delay for a trial. (Terry Tuchin probably tortures and questions persons, mostly minority men, for New Jersey's State Police.)
Cuba may well try and convict this man -- mostly to demonstrate their evidentiary basis for taking action to curtail U.S. interference in Cuban domestic jurisdiction -- and yet release the individual for humanitarian reasons after his conviction, once the political point has been made.
Since the U.S. is holding a number of alleged Cuban spies, this may be the perfect moment to negotiate an exchange. The Cubans held in the U.S. may be returned to Havana; the American in Cuba may be returned to his family in America.
I am being monitored, illegally, and subjected to many crimes by persons protected from the consequences of their actions by government officials in this country. Illegality seems to be irrelevant to this reality. My opinions are deemed unacceptable. I will not change my opinions based on intimidation or threats from anyone. Asking me to change my mind on the Cuba issue in exchange for non-interference with my writings is unacceptable. My opinions are not for sale. I will not be intimidated by anyone nor will I be prevented from speaking. (Again: "Is Senator Bob 'For' Human Rights?" and "Is Senator Menendez a Suspect in Mafia-Political Murder in New Jersey?")
Perhaps someone will negotiate for the recognition of my American Constitutional rights? Until we do so -- until the rights of all Americans are respected -- no one will take us seriously when we criticize the human rights records of other countries, like China, Cuba, Korea or nations in the Islamic world. The U.S. has little credibility in human rights discussions today. (See "Good Will Humping" and "The Heidegger Controversy.")
The detention of Mr. Gross is being used by Cuban-American militant groups (protected by Senator Menendez and others) to obstruct any movement towards a more open U.S. policy and an end to the embargo against Cuba. By harassing me, these Cuban-American fascists hope to prevent the release of Mr. Gross because it would reflect well on contemporary Cuban society if Mr. Gross were liberated. The welfare of Mr. Gross and/or his family is irrelevant to these single-issue fanatics. Totalitarians will only bring suffering to any nation unwise enough to receive them or trust them with political power. ("Time to End the Embargo Against Cuba" and "Fidel Castro's 'History Will Absolve Me.'")
Every country in the world incarcerates persons found spying within its borders. This includes the U.S. -- America is still holding an Israeli convicted of delivering secrets to an ally (Israel) almost twenty years-ago, I believe. The inmate is represented by Alan Dershowitz, I am told. I favor releasing this individual and deporting him to Israel.
"Gross, who lived in Potomac with his wife and has two daughters, was arrested while working to provide satellite-phone and computer gear to Cuban Jews to help them communicate with Jews abroad. It was part of a secretive American democracy-promotion program that grew during the George W. Bush administration, under the auspices of the Agency for International Development."
Setting aside the byzantine alliances between Right-wing groups -- including Cuban-American fanatics -- and Israeli militants or U.S. intelligence agencies and/or the so-called Republican attack machine, I respectfully request that the Cuban Revolutionary Government release Mr. Gross without preconditions or demands of any kind. ("Miami's Cubanoids Protest Against Peace!" and "Cubanazos Pose a Threat to National Security!")
I make this request even if Cuban-American lunatics from New Jersey continue to deface and suppress my writings in order to harass me. Not surprisingly Luis Posada Carriles has delayed his trial in Texas, maybe to see if he can "reach" potential witnesses -- allegedly. I hope those witnesses are protected by the U.S. Justice Department. ("American Hypocrisy and Luis Posada Carriles.")
I make this request for the release of Mr. Gross strictly for humanitarian reasons on the assumption that Mr. Gross was probably used by people without the slightest regard for his or his family's welfare -- this is something that I can understand! -- like Lori Berenson in Peru. ("Terry Tuchin, Diana Lisa Riccioli, and New Jersey's Agency of Torture.")
I am asking for compassion and forebearance from Cuba which has every right to try this individual whose affiliation with the Agency for International Development (C.I.A. front?) alone is questionable. ("Time to End the Embargo Against Cuba" and, again, "Fidel Castro's 'History Will Absolve Me."")
It is too easy to make Jewish men and women scapegoats, everywhere. It is also tempting to project our problems on to the Jewish community in America and the world. I know the feelings many persons harbor of violation and rage associated with actions of the Israeli state. Nevertheless, I continue to support the U.S.-Israeli alliance and quest for a peaceful solution to the Palestinian struggle for self-determination with dignity. ("What is it like to be plagiarized?" and "'Brideshead Revisited': A Movie Review.")
I appreciate that my request is unlikely to succeed on a day when persons from many parts of the world have witnessed repeated and unpunished defacements of my writings and censorship of my ideas in tolerated violation of American law. I am grateful for the sympathy and support of persons from all over the world outraged by this evil that makes a lie of America's legal guarantees for all citizens. ("Manifesto for the Unfinished American Revolution.")
A letter was removed from the foregoing paragraph overnight. Despite all of the technology at the service of the United States government, no attempt to prevent these crimes over many years has been successful. How strange? ("Does Senator Menendez Have Mafia Friends?")
It is irrelevant whether the same Cuban-American fascists will attempt to claim a victory if Mr. Gross is released. No one believes what such persons say. ("Senator Bob, the Babe, and the Big Bucks" and "Senator Bob Loves Xanadu!" then "Corrupt Law Firms, Senator Bob, and New Jersey Ethics.")
Mr. Gross should be released because he is a suffering human being whose loved-ones are agonizing over his welfare. This is also something that I can understand. Finally, Mr. Gross should be released because Cuba today is very different from the Cuban-American gangsters and their New Jersey protectors whose actions are painfully evident to the world community at these blogs on a daily basis. As a Cuban-American -- despite being their victim -- I am embarassed and concerned that such loathsome persons in Union City or Miami, computer criminals and worse, will come to define my ethnic group in America and for the world.
I wonder whether persons at The Miami Herald agree on this issue? Would journalists at that publication participate in computer crime and censorship victimizing me? Have subpoenas been served on persons at El Herald? Univision? I wonder how "Alina Falcone" is doing at Univision? I wonder whether "Alina Falcone" is also "Manohla Dargis"? I am very fond of a former "Executive Producer" at Univision named Marilyn Straus. We will know soon enough. (Andres Openheimer?)
This difference in attitudes among Cuban-Americans may well be demonstrated in reactions to future defacements of this very essay. (Again: "American Hypocrisy and Luis Posada Carriles" and "Babalu and Free Speech Too.")
I am asking for the release of Mr. Gross to his family as a heroic gesture of peace and concern by Cuba for these ordinary Americans who have nothing to do with the embargo or other policies of the U.S. government to which persons of conscience in this country and throughout the world object. (See the documentary "Sicko.")
I suffer from no delusions concerning my "lack of importance" and/or insignificance. I do not expect to command anyone's attention. However, if there is one chance in a million that I can be heard by the Cuban government, then my effort is worthwhile. Thank you for considering this request.
