N.J.'s Joe Coniglio May be Sprung From the Can!

August 12, 2010 at 11:35 A.M. A message formerly attributed to Amazon now lists Blogger's "spam protection" and reporting site at my dashboard. These messages are bogus. August 11, 2010 at 5:26 P.M. Two "errors" inserted since this morning. I have now corrected those "errors." More attacks must be expected. Happily, it appears that Mr. Speziale will be abandoning the field of battle. Whether he will continue "in his ways" as a Port Authority official is uncertain.

August 11, 2010 at 10:46 A.M. "Errors" will be inserted throughout the day, other efforts to sabotage and deface these writings must be expected. New arrests and indictments are anticipated in New Jersey. I will remain attentive to these events. I understand that Mr. Speziale will abandon his campaign for Passaic County Sheriff in order to work for the Port Authority Police. Best of luck to him.

Peter J. Sampson, "Coniglio Seeks Freedom During Appeal," in The Record, August 10, 2010, p. L-6. (You gotta be kidding me, geez.)

"More than eight months into a 30-month sentence, former state Sen. Joseph Coniglio [a.k.a. "I-got-get-mine!"] is asking an appellate court to release him from prison while considering a challenge to his conviction and sentence on theft of honest services charges."

Recent changes in laws and Supreme Court cases have motivated Coniglio and other convicted felons to give the courts another try. Bribery fees for the OAE may be going up this year. ("New Jersey's Office of Attorney Ethics" and "New Jersey's 'Ethical' Legal System.")

"Coniglio, 67, a Democrat [What else?] from Paramus, is scheduled to be released from the federal prison camp at Lewisburg, Pa., to a halfway house in July 2011. Unless granted bail pending appeal, Coniglio 'will serve most if not all of his remaining custodial sentence before his appeal is resolved,' his attorney, Gerald Krovatin, wrote in papers filed last week with the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals."

Coniglio was the darling of the Trenton political set and Bergen County's "alleged" mob circles:

" ... A union plumber for more than 40 years and senator for six, Coniglio was indicted in 2008 on eight counts of honest services fraud and one count of extortion in a scheme to accept more than $100,000 in BRIBES disguised as consulting fees in return for steering $1 million in state grants to Hackensack University Medical Center."

Coniglio may get another bite at the apple. This time he may share the proceeds of his efforts with other powerful N.J. "bosses" in order to avoid his past difficulties. You gotta share with Big Pappa. ("Does Senator Menendez Have Mafia Friends?" and "Senator Bob, the Babe, and the Big Bucks.")

"Passaic County Sheriff Jerry ["the Beagle"] Speziale vowed to continue fighting the Civil Service Commission, which is trying to rein in the sheriff's patronage power" -- since when? is this New Jersey or what? -- "by ordering the layoff of eight recently hired investigators."

Seven of these recently hired investigators were, allegedly, the sheriff's cousins from Naples "looking for a little something, I don't know what."

"Speziale denies padding his department payroll with patronage appointments and said he would ask the [aptly named] county freeholders to allocate payment of legal fees to appeal the commission's May ruling that ordered the layoffs."

Mr. Speziale cut a deal with Republicans for a Port Authority police job paying in excess of $200,000 and left his loyalists in the lurch. This may be Diana's last "friend" in N.J.'s "family-like" power structure. This guy's got "friends" in the judiciary:

"If the freeholders" -- dem bumbs! -- "say no, Speziale said, he will go to state Superior Court and ask Assignment Judge Donald J. Volkert Jr. to allow him to increase the number of officers in the Sheriff's Department."

Is Donnie Volkert a "house judge," Jerry? Or is it going to cost you for Donnie to say "yes" -- allegedly? All of this may now be moot. Jerry is going to say "Sayonara" in exchange for the loot and "he don't know nothing."

Speziale is a law enforcement officer who has chosen to violate an Order of the Civil Service Commission in order to preserve his power to give away public jobs and patronage to his buddies, allegedly. This is the man you want at the Port Authority?

The remarkable aspect of this situation is its unremarkable nature in New Jersey. This political boss is outraged that anyone would take umbrage at this "time-honored" tradition of "home rule."

"What're you a trouble maker or something? Nothing's easy no more. Agida, I got now." These statements are commonly heard when socializing with New Jersey political types and courthouse hangers-on. I wonder how Mr. Sarlo is recovering from his appendectomy? Stress will kill you guys.

Mr. Christie spoke of New Jersey's political mob as "brazen" and "shameless." Has Mr. Christie forgotten those words? I hope not.

Mr. Christie, please order Paula Dow, New Jersey's Attorney General, to turn over the torture files pertaining to me, so that I may know the full horror of the crimes committed against me by New Jersey, and also the crimes committed by the Garden State against the U.S. Constitution. ("No More Cover-Ups and Lies, Chief Justice Rabner!" and "Stuart Rabner and Conduct Unbecoming to the Judiciary in New Jersey.")

The revolting spectacle of New Jersey's public violations of ethics, decency, and criminal law must be brought to an end. Decent people everywhere are simply disgusted by New Jersey's corruption in government and law.
